Feral cats are cats that have never had any human contact and live in a "wild state" outdoors. These cats are fearful of humans and will often run or hide when they see you. Usually these cats will come out in the hours from Dusk till Dawn. In some cases, feral cats will bond with their Colony Caretakers, but will still retreat when others are around. Feral cats can't be adopted. Feral kittens between the ages of 4-8 weeks can be easily socialized and turned in to social purring loving cats. Kittens between 2-4 months can also be socialized, but it will take much more work. However, with diligence and patience it can be done. Any feral cats ab over the age of 4months old should be returned to the location where they were trapped. Some signs of a feral cat are; cannot be touched, will run away when they see you, they come out from dusk till dawn, they are not vocal, and have clean groomed coats.

Stray cats are usually cats which have at some point in life been a domesticated pet, however due to some circumstance had to fend for themselves, whether they have become lost or been abandoned. Some times stray cats can start to show some feral tendencies as they are left to learn to adjust to living outdoors. However, these cats can often be rescued and rehabilitated into being pets once again with the proper socialization. Some signs of a stray cat are; they may approach people, will be vocal or meow, will have eye contact with you, will allow you to touch them, will be visible during the daytime, and will not run away when you are in their presence, and their coat w ill probably be dirty or disheveled due to non grooming caused by the stress from being outdoors.

Community Cats are any unowned cats who live in the community, this includes, both ferals and strays.
