Volunteers are the HEART of Whiskers & Tails Rescue Foundation.  We are an all-volunteer based organization, so we count on people like you to help us make a difference in community cats’ lives. - Kitty Cat Cuddler (Foster Pawrent)  

One of the most important things that we do is save friendly cats & kittens from the streets and provide them a safe and loving home until they are ready for adoption.  Our foster pawrents offer shelter, love, patience, and attention to feline friends who may be recovering from illness, trauma, or simply in search of a forever home. Foster parents ensure the cats' physical and emotional well-being, provide nourishing meals, a safe environment, and social interaction. Their dedication helps these cats build trust, heal, and prepare for adoption into loving families, offering them a second chance at a happy and secure life. Want to no more? - Fun Committee - Events/Fundraising (High Need)

We are looking for multiple volunteers for our fun committee. Fun committee members will help come up with creative ideas for special events, such as fundraisers, adoption drives, and volunteer appreciation events. They will help bring those ideas to fruition, and help to mandate those events; help raise urgently needed funds/goods by phone solicitation and other methods for the events, communicating why the funds are needed. Also, researching different ways and coming up with ideas how we can successfully run events virtually, online, etc. The Fun Committee will meet via zoom once a month. 

 
- Administration
Provide administrative support to our rescue team by assisting with data entry, email correspondence, making and following up on calls, researching various things, record-keeping of various logs, coordinating in kind donation pickups and drop offs, and other organizational tasks to help ensure smooth operations behind the scenes.
 
 
- Social Media Content Coordinators
Use your creativity and passion for cats to manage our social media accounts. Share stories, photos, and updates about our rescue cats and our programs to engage with our supporters and attract potential adopters, foster parents, volunteers, etc. 
 
 
- Foster Recruiter - Social Media
Create engaging posts and content to promote our foster program on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and community forums. Identify and join relevant online groups, forums, and communities where individuals interested in animal rescue and fostering may be active. Regularly share updates and success stories from our foster program to showcase the impact of fostering on cats' lives and encourage others to get involved. Respond promptly to inquiries and messages from individuals expressing interest in fostering, providing them with information about our program and guiding them to our online foster application process.
 
 
-  Graphic Design
We are looking for someone to help design our marketing materials. This includes and is not limited to, print materials, merchandise, media products, advertising and signage.
 
 
- Transportation
Assist with transporting cats and kittens to various locations, including trapping sites, veterinary partners, foster homes, offsite adoption events, and our adoption center. Additionally, volunteers may help transport goods to and from our storage facility. Transport needs arise at various times. However, transportation of cats for vet appointments (when applicable) typically occurs during daytime weekday hours.
 

- Photography & Videography

Responsible for capturing high-quality photos β€‹& videos that showcase the unique personalities of our cats and kittens. These photos will not only increase their chances of adoption but also help us create visually appealing content for our website, social media platforms, and promotional materials.​ In addition to photographing our rescue cats in​ our adoption center and foster homes, you'll also have the opportunity to take photos at adoption events, fundraisers, and other special occasions. Your creativity and expertise behind the camera will help us engage with our supporters, attract potential adopters, and raise awareness about our mission.

 

- Website  

We are looking for people with a developer/graphic/technical background that can help update and improve our website. Responsibilities would include but are not limited to design, code, modify, and improve our website from layout to function, with continued website maintenance and updating of new content.

 

-   Database Assistance

We need volunteers to help keep our website and database management up to date. This includes entering colony information, microchip registration, writing community cat bios for sponsorships, contacts, newsletters, events, etc. This information will need to be updated on a regular basis, so we prefer volunteers who can commit at least 3 hours a week.

 

- Grant Writers  

Whiskers & Tails Rescue Foundation benefits the communities in which we service. In order for us to continue to service our communities and offer vital services, we have to obtain consistent funding, one of those ways is through securing grants. Grants will help us facilitate urgent, positive and lasting change across those communities. The grant team researches grant opportunities, helps to develop program goals & writes grants.

 

TNR Volunteer Opportunities

   

- In Field Trapping

We need volunteer teams to help assist with in field trapping for TNR projects that we will be working on. Duties will include transport equipment to and from trapping locations, provide demonstrations on how to operate traps (when applicable), Set up traps, monitor/check traps, prepare documentation for the cats who have been trapped, and prepare the cats for overnight holding care for their TNR Services.

 

- Field Captains

We are looking for volunteers who are willing to be Field Captains in our targeted zip codes. The duties will include visiting and assessing project sites that we have received calls and emails for, following up on registered colonies in your assigned zip code to confirm they are complying with the Cook County Managed Feral Colonies Act.

 

- Transportation

Assist with transporting cats and kittens to various locations, including trapping sites, veterinary partners, foster homes, offsite adoption events, and our adoption center. Additionally, volunteers may help transport goods to and from our storage facility. Transport needs arise at various times. However, transportation of cats for vet appointments (when applicable) typically occurs during daytime weekday hours.
